The Outreach Coordinator will work with our members to build support for environmentally responsible public policy for our natural landscapes and wildlife. The position is an ideal opportunity for candidates with a passion for the environment, and a strong desire to work with different stakeholders to promote a sustainable future for New South Wales.  This position requires a highly organised person with an eye for detail and a commitment to upholding best practice internal processes. This position is one of the key interfaces between NCC and our member groups and requires a passion for supporting grassroots community organisations to achieve their goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • convene and provide secretarial support for the NCC Member Services and Annual Conference Committee;
  • facilitate the provision of assistance to NCC member groups, including capacity building workshops;
  • lead major event organisation, including annual and regional conferences;
  • convene and provide secretarial support for the NCC Forest Working Group to ensure good communication and coordination among groups contributing to the forest campaign;
  • be an ambassador for the NSW forest campaign within the conservation sector in order to strategically maximise involvement and effectiveness of NCC member groups, allies and individuals in the campaign;
  • coordinate nominations of NCC representatives to statutory committees;
  • undertake new member research and recruitment;
  • recruit and supervise interns and volunteers; and
  • write and disseminate bi-monthly member newsletter;

 Selection Criteria:

Essential:

  • excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • demonstrated ability to manage and efficiently complete complex administrative tasks and maintain accurate records;
  • passion for working with people to protect the environment;
  • demonstrated capacity to organise successful events;
  • strong ability to coordinate diverse volunteer groups and individuals.

 Desirable

  • knowledge of NSW environmental issues;
  • familiarity with the NSW environment movement;
  • experience in growing a membership base;
  • experience in campaign or strategic planning;
  • advanced IT skills, including web design and Nationbuilder management.
