Outreach Coordinator, National Volunteer Center

The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), the nation’s largest animal advocacy organization, is seeking an Outreach Coordinator for its National Volunteer Center.  The main responsibility of this position is to serve as first point of contact for potential volunteers, provide information about volunteer opportunities with The HSUS and to handle daily operations and provide administrative and program support to the Volunteer Center.  Other duties include, but are not limited to:  serve as liaison between departments, volunteer center and the volunteers; work with staff to create new volunteer assignments to support ongoing activities; ensure that volunteers placed within the organization are screened to be able to carry out the functions they have agreed to do and/or have the training available to make certain they gain sufficient tools and skills to perform those duties; plan and conduct volunteer orientations and training sessions for new and potential volunteers.  College degree and/or job related equivalent highly desired.  Candidate must possess excellent interpersonal, organizational, written and verbal communication skills, be organized and flexible and be able to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.  Must be comfortable learning and operating in new databases and computer systems.  The salary range for this position is from the low to the mid $40’s.  Please send cover letters and resumes to hrjobs@hsus.org or fax to 301-548-7701.  This position is located in Gaithersburg, Md.
