Ornithology Adviser - Policy & Advice 37 hours per week, starting salary in the range of £23,839 - £31,586 depending on qualifications and experience Battleby, Perth (Ref: 059-328)
The post will join a team of ornithology advisers providing technical advice to support casework and policy development. The work will address mainly terrestrial ornithology but may be required to support policy development and/or implementation in the marine environment also.
You must be educated to at least degree level in a subject which includes avian ecology or conservation, and be able to demonstrate scientific credibility in these areas and the advice given. This post would suit newly qualified post-doctorate level. You must also have an ability to communicate complex scientific and conservation management issues clearly and simply with an understanding of the statutory framework for avian conservation in the UK and internationally. An understanding of the renewables industry and related ornithological issues are a must. You must be an effective negotiator with good interpersonal skills with an ability to work both as a member of a dispersed team or independently. Finally, Good time and project management skills are essential with the ability to balance a considerable reactive workload with the need for proactive working.
