Standards Manager
Salary: £28,000 pro rata

Contract: Fixed term maternity cover for 9 months initially
Start: Beginning October 2008
Location: Bristol

The Soil Association is the UK's leading environmental charity campaigning for people and planet-friendly food and farming.

We are looking for an experienced individual to manage the development of standards for organic production and processing across the sectors of agriculture, horticulture, food processing and ethical trade. You will also be responsible for managing the Standards Research Officer.

You will have a relevant degree, knowledge of organic principles and research experience in organic production or food processing. You will also have experience in a wide range of production or processing sectors. You will have excellent communication, interpersonal, line management and organisational skills.

Your skills and experience should include:
  • Degree or equivalent in an appropriate scientific subject
  • Knowledge of Soil Association organic standards
  • Knowledge of food production and processing
  • Previous line management experience
  • Familiarity with a range of IT applications, including databases
  • Good office administration skills
