The Student Conservation Association (SCA), America’s #1 conservation service organization seeks an Operations Director, National Crews in their Charlestown, NH location.  This role directs program quality, safety/risk management, and general operations of National Crew program.  Participates in planning and implementation of growth strategies for the program. Ensures the sustainability, growth and consistency of current programs and advises on the development of new programs.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Directs all operational aspects of National Crew programs in coordination with Regional Program Directors, ETE (Education, Training and Evaluation department), Member Services and Safety/Risk Management.  Lead National Crew coordinators in national-scope/collaborative environment
  • Provide national level oversight of trainings; ensure all trainings are carried out in accordance with SCA’s training standards; encourage cross-program collaboration in training
  • Ensure that all Crew programming meets SCA’s criteria for Risk Management and Mission Alignment
  • Work closely with the Director of Youth Programs and the Finance department in the management of departmental budget
  • Serve as a lead manager for field issues (including compliance and reporting obligations for Worker’s Compensation and incident documentation)

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years experience in job-related field such as program management, operations, etc.
  • Demonstrated team leadership and/or supervisory experience with the ability to build strong working relationships across a distance
  • Knowledge of 15-19 year old demographic highly preferred
  • 2-3 years of training experience.
  • Demonstrated skill and experience in budget management
  • High degree of accountability and commitment to achieving team-based goals.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Current Wilderness First Responder or CPR Certification highly preferred
  • Strong MSOffice skills required particularly Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Ability to work well as part of a team as well as independently
  • Valid driver’s license with MVR that meets SCA standards
  • Must pass SCA criminal background check.
  • Willingness to travel regionally and nationally (15-20% of time)
  • Must have access to cell phone for business purposes
