We seek an Online Editor, to support National Wildlife Federation's "Be Out There" program. "Be Out There" is a program seeking to return children to what they don't even know they've lost: connection to the natural world. Studies show daily time outdoors provides not only the simple joys found in nature, but also improves children's physical, mental and emotional health, boosts classroom performance and encourages stewardship over the environment.

The Online Editor for "Be Out There" will be responsible for executing specific projects and overseeing the content strategy for both the activities portion of the Be Out There websites (www.beoutthere.org/activities) as well as the Outdoors and Family Channel (www.nwf.org/family). He or she will serve an advisory role on other content areas of www.beoutthere.org, which are managed by marketing staff. This role requires a mix of self-directed work in addition to collaborative projects and activities with the Children's Publications and National Wildlife Magazine online, external groups that may offer content and other NWF departments and programs. Key measures of success include growing website visitors, time spent on page and repeat visitors as well as building a strong online community via social media and growing the number of major media hits received due to "Be Out There" content.
