Online Communications Advisor

Forest & Bird’s marketing and communications team is responsible for marketing campaigns, all communications with media, all communications with members, and for the production and management of all print and electronic channels.

The Communications Advisor (online) is responsible for online communications. The tasks of the Communications Advisor (online) include External Communications, Internal Communications, and Branch Support. Those include:

Effectively engaging external audiences with high quality communications material, primarily, but not exclusively in the online media.

  • Manage and publish content to Forest & Bird’s website www.forestandbird.org.nz (including the Forest & Bird’s blog site, http://blog.forestandbird.org.nz/) and the Kiwi Conservation Club website, www.kcc.org.nz. This includes researching, writing, and sub-editing content for the website and blog site. The aim is to keep the Forest & Bird website current and support Forest & Bird’s marketing and communications objectives, our campaigns and our branch projects
  • Working with Forest & Bird’s conservation and advocacy staff in developing content for the Forest & Bird and KCC website.
  • Write Forest & Bird’s regular email newsletters.
  • Assist the Kiwi Conservation Co-ordinator with creating and sending the Kiwi Conservation Club’s email newsletters.
  • Responsible for web-based promotions of specific events.
  • Contribute to all of Forest & Bird’s social media channels.
  • Providing other communications advice, strategies and tactical support for campaigns, projects and events.
  • Assist with the design and production of graphics, photographic and video content.
  • Assisting with media releases and relationships with media organisations.

Internal Communications

  • To effectively engage internal audiences (members, branch committee members, board members and staff) with high quality communications material.
  • Produce materials for communications to the Forest & Bird Board, branch committee members, staff and volunteers.
  • Contribute and produce email newsletters to Forest & Bird branch committees and other members

Branch Support 

Help Forest & Bird’s branch committee members to maintain, develop and improve their presence on the Forest & Bird website.
