On–Call Ecology Education Program Assistant

TITLE: On–Call Ecology Education Program Assistant

POSTING DATE: October 11, 2011

LOCATION: Millbrook, NY

DURATION: Part time position working on an “as needed” basis.  Starts as soon as possible and initial appointment is for one year. Continuation contingent upon performance and availability of funds

DUTIES:

• Help promote, develop curriculum and materials for, and teach Ecosystem Exploration programs for school groups at the Cary Institute, and Schoolyard Ecology programs at local schools.
• Develop, promote and offer public programs and interpretive materials for visitors to the Cary Institute.
• Support other facets of the Institute’s education programs, including teacher workshops, curriculum development and education research.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Course background (Bachelor’s degree preferred) in ecology or related field.
• Ecology teaching experience with school children and the public.
• Ability to communicate with a wide range of the public.
• Excellent writing and organizational skills.
• Experience in designing displays or brochures a plus.
