Field assistant required to help with data collection for a PhD studying the ecology of African buffalo (Syncerus caffer) in the Okavango Delta, Botswana. The PhD is with the University of Bristol and the University of Botswana.
Fieldwork includes assessing group composition of buffalo herds and vegetation sampling. Nights are regularly spent camping out in the middle of the bush. Most accommodation and food are provided, at a camp in the bush, with electricity, hot water, internet access. Applicants must have relevant experience, living in isolated conditions, ideally in Africa, and a BSc in a related field. Previously arranged assistant has cancelled at last minute, so applicants who can start as close to the beginning of October as possible will be favoured.
