RES has a dedicated offshore turbine engineering team supporting RES's offshore projects during the selection, manufacturing, supply, installation and commissioning of offshore wind turbines for offshore wind farms for the UK and European markets.

The Role:

Reporting to the Offshore Turbine Engineering Manager, the primary responsibility of the role is to coordinate/manage the work with wind turbine manufacturers during the selection process through contract signature and the contract execution phase of secured contract.

As a member of the Offshore Turbine Engineering team you will ensure clarity and efficiency in the following areas of responsibility:

  • Overall responsibility in the coordination of the day to day activities related to the wind turbine selection process and contract execution phase (design, manufacturing and construction activities) with particular focus to the project tasks that impact on the project performance, cost and programme
  • Coordinating technical due diligence activities
  • Preparing tender documentation
  • Assessing manufacturers' tender proposals in terms of scope of services offered, price and technical content
  • Coordinating the activities for reviewing terms and conditions for turbine supply and service contracts seeking advices form the procurement and legal teams
  • Liaising  with other RES Offshore's teams seeking support as required
  • Liaising with RES Offshore's clients providing necessary support in managing the turbine package
  • Coordinating expert consultants as required
  • Liaising with the contractor to ensure high level of health, safety, environment and quality through the manufacturing and construction phases of the turbine package
  • Liaising with turbine manufacturers to obtain information required by in-house and external designers
  • Liaising with turbine suppliers to monitor their progress in developing new technologies for the offshore market
  • Supporting the operation and maintenance team through analysis and negotiation of the service agreement, including turbine availability warranty and production statistics

The Person:

This role would suit a candidate with a degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, or equivalent, knowledge and experience in wind turbines and/or contract development and management. Knowledge of the offshore wind industry and offshore construction experience are not essential but would be strongly advantageous

This role would suit a degree qualified mechanical or electrical engineer with engineering and technical experience. Knowledge and experience would be beneficial.

The successful candidate will be required to demonstrate that they have the following capabilities:

  • Excellent communication skills enabling effective discussion and transfer of information between contractors, clients and the team members
  • Excellent organisation skills with the ability to manage own workload and meet demanding timescales on a number of potentially simultaneous projects
  • Strong reporting and presentation skills together with an excellent understanding of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • The technical skills to evaluate complex machinery and equipment
  • The ability to work as a member of a team influencing decisions and reacting positively to the varying challenges as the project evolves
  • Willingness to travel within UK and Europe
  • This role will require visits to offshore wind farm site and prototypes of wind turbines
