As part of the exponential growth in offshore renewable energy, RES Offshore is expanding its business in the development, engineering, project management, construction and operation and maintenance of offshore renewable energy projects resulting in the need for additional procurement support.

The Role:

RES has a dedicated cables team supporting RES offshore projects during the engineering, routing, manufacture, supply, installation and commissioning phases of submarine cables.  These cables connect the turbines and landfalls, back to the grid connection points for offshore renewable energy systems within UK, European and Worldwide markets.

The Junior Project Surveyor/Geophysicist's primary role is to include, but not necessarily be limited to, the compilation of survey documentation, specification of geophysical survey standards, review of related ITT documentation and technical reports and liaison with client representatives during survey operations.  There will also be a requirement to undertake site visits for the identification of suitable cable landing sites.

The Candidate:

Essential

  • Degree qualified in a relevant marine science, with some experience gained in marine survey.
  • Ability to provide survey technical support to offshore submarine cable projects.
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Ability to undertake visits to contractors and clients facilities, and to vessels for inspection and progress meetings.
  • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, and with other parts of the project team to ensure clarity and efficiency of project interfaces.

Desired

  • Ability to assist other members of the cables team with cable route design and cable engineering.
  • Ability to assist in identifying suitable cable landing sites.
  • Knowledge/exposure of submarine cables and route engineering.
  • Knowledge of MakaiPlan and/or Geocap software.
  • Ability to assist in preparation of survey ITTs including technical specifications and scopes of work.
  • Ability to review survey ITT responses and proposals in terms of scope of services offered, competence and technical compliance.
  • Ability to coordinate the collection and collation of technical documentation for survey contracts.

Please note this position will require some travel within the UK and overseas. Training will be provided in areas where the candidates abilities and knowledge need to be enhanced.
