Office Director in Slovakia (40h)

For the local office in Slovakia, we are looking for an Office Director in Slovakia (40h)

Purpose of the position:

As the Office Director of Greenpeace in Slovakia you are responsible for the overall performance of the Slovak office by using your profound professional background in management and in one of the core areas of the organisation´s work (details see below). You are a member of the Senior Management Team of Greenpeace in Central and Eastern Europe and report directly to the Executive Director of Greenpeace CEE in Vienna. You are line managing our staff in Bratislava.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • You are responsible for all topics related to managing the office, staff and public affairs of Greenpeace in Slovakia, including but not limited to the overall performance and the implementation of the programme (political campaigning, media work, mobilisation work) as planned in the framework of the Greenpeace CEE regional planning processes.
  • You will be leading and supporting a team of approximately eight enthusiastic professionals by making use of various HR-related tools (for performance management, staff and team development, trainings, recruitment, individual coaching), as well as you own social skills, empathy and experience.
  • You will represent the organisation in official relations with the government, state institutions, political parties and NGOs and serve as statutory representative of Greenpeace CEE in Slovakia (liability based on the bylaws of the organisation).
  • You will handle and supervise the financial affairs of the office within the systems of Greenpeace CEE, you will contribute to the overall budgeting process and keep your office on track and you will be responsible for the statutory audit report.
  • Besides the above mentioned management and leadership tasks your have operational responsibility for at least one of the following business areas, according to your professional background and competencies: Human Resources, Finance, Marketing, Mobilization or Political Campaigning.

Required competencies:

  • Substantial working experience in a leadership position with full line management responsibility
  • Sound professional background and practical knowledge in minimum one of the mentioned areas (Human Resources, Finance, Marketing, Mobilization, Political Campaigning)
  • Knowledge of the NGO sector and deep understanding of its culture (concrete experience in an NGO is an advantage)
  • Experience in strategic and operational planning and in the implementation of programs/projects
  • Networking experience
  • Fluent Slovak and English (both in writing and speaking)
  • Positive attitude towards the Greenpeace way of work
