Chemonics seeks a short-term oceans policy specialist for the ongoing USAID-funded Indonesia Marine and Climate Support project for sustainable management of marine and coastal ecosystems. The project aims to restore and enhance ecosystem productivity, biodiversity, and resiliency for food and economic security, and increase the resiliency of natural ecosystems and coastal communities to adapt to climate change and reduce risk from disasters. The oceans policy specialist will be based in Jakarta. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world. Responsibilities include:
Assist the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries to evaluate previously developed documents concerning oceans policy
Assess any institutional constraints that will affect a national oceans policy
Recommend a roadmap of steps and procedures for preparing an oceans policy
Qualifications:
Advanced degree in a relevant field preferred
Minimum 10 years of demonstrated work experience in a relevant field
Professional work experience in Asia required
Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
