Description

EJF is looking for high-calibre support to assist in its development of information gathering and surveillance techniques aimed at exposing illegal activities in fishing operations. French language skills are essential as much of the vessel surveillance takes place in the West African fishing region.

Main duties:

  • Monitoring vessels using satellite tracking systems
  • Analysing the information gathered on vessels activities
  • Researching legislative information relevant to fisheries
  • Mapping illegal, unreported, and unregistered fishing activities
  • Drafting suspicious vessel activity alerts and notifications
  • Translating documents from English into French
  • Other duties; for example, assisting in managing EJF’s French Twitter page.

Required skills:

  • Good research, analysis and writing skills
  • Ability to analyse quantitative data
  • French language skills
  • International Maritime Legislation knowledge and Twitter experience are assets.

Working hours: 9am to 6pm - 3 days a week

Period: 3 months minimum

Remuneration: This is an unpaid internship. Travel within London (Zones 1 – 4) and £5 for lunch expenses per day will be covered.

Location: The successful candidate will be based in EJF’s London office.

Starting date: November ASAP
