Description

Our oceans give us life. They provide the world with over half the oxygen we breathe, they drive weather systems and provide us with food. In return, we are emptying our oceans of life and choking them with pollution. Can this be changed?

At Greenpeace, we believe so. Our passionate oceans campaigners are working to change the way we fish and the way we protect our oceans. They are pushing to replace destructive and illegal fishing practices with sustainable ones, and to establish a global network of marine reserves, which are vital to restore the health of our oceans.

You will work closely with Pacific governments to further our international marine reserves work, in particular achieving our key political objective of a new UN Implementing Agreement.  You will develop campaign strategies to change public, government and business behaviour and foster and lead the production of government submissions. You’ll also liaise with government and non-governmental organisations and other Greenpeace offices, and will represent Greenpeace in public activities and in the media.

You will need a demonstrated ability to achieve environmental campaign objectives and a good understanding of the Pacific and international political and business environment. You should also have strong strategic and planning abilities, excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communications skills, a passion for the environment and a commitment to the aims and values of Greenpeace.

As well as the opportunity to make a difference on crucial issues, Greenpeace offers employees a supportive work environment and a real commitment to life/work balance. We also encourage staff to develop new skills, take on challenges and get involved in the wider organisation.

This is a 28 hours per week, 12 month term position based in Suva. Applications close 15th April and must address the selection criteria in the job description.
