The Pacific region contains one of the last healthy tuna fisheries left in the world, yet it is threatened by overfishing. To combat this Greenpeace is working on a range of solutions to help protect fish stocks, and the livelihoods and food supply of the people in the Pacific. Our over-arching vision is for sustainable and equitable oceans use that includes a network of marine reseves.
The Oceans Campaigner will front the Oceans campaign within the Pacific region and work closely with the Oceans Team to develop and implement strategies that work towards equitable and sustainable fisheries within the Western and Central Pacific Ocean. Extensive travel within the region will be required.
Applicants must have Tertiary qualifications in marine science or a related field or equivalent experience, a demonstrated ability to achieve environmental campaign objectives, proven knowledge of national and international government processes and the fisheries sector.
As well as the opportunity to make a difference on crucial issues, Greenpeace offers employees a supportive work environment and a real commitment to life/work balance. We also encourage staff to develop new skills, take on challenges and get involved in the wider organisation.
