Scope of position:             

  • Member of OpenHydro’s site resource analysis team, requiring regular collaboration with the Engineering and Projects teams.
  • Principally responsible for the analysis of oceanographic site data from vessel-mounted Acoustic Doppler Profiler (ADP) surveys and bottom-mounted ADP surveys.
  • The role will also involve analysis of performance data from OpenHydro’s Open-Centre Turbine.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Planning and execution of marine surveys using OpenHydro’s ADP equipment.
  • Numerical processing and analysis of metocean data.
  • Processing and analysis of data from OpenHydro’s turbines.
  • Creation and development of data analysis tools, methods and software.
  • Flexibility in the role is a key requirement, particularly when working to tight client or internal deadlines. 

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Minimum experience of 2 years working with ADP data.
  • Strong skills in MATLAB and Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to interpret data and propose innovative solutions for our business.
  • Practical and innovative approach to work.
  • Strong presentation and report writing skills.
  • Enthusiastic, positive and proactive nature, excellent work ethic & flexibility.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and team working skills.
  • Willingness to travel to project locations.

 

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Marine operations experience.
  • Familiarity with GIS software.
  • Experience of working in the tidal stream energy industry.
  • Knowledge of renewable energy systems and the marine environment.
