The Oak Openings Restoration Assistant performs activities including, but not limited to, the following:
• Remove woody vegetation by mowing with a tractor, using power equipment such as a chainsaw or brush cutter, or by hand cutting.
• Control invasive species using various techniques including herbicide application.
• Collect, process, and plant native seeds in restoration areas; monitor seedlings and plants.
• Assist in prescribed fire operations at training and experience level of Fire Fighter Type 2 including, but not limited to, fireline preparation, ignition, implementation, and mop up.
• Maintain tools, vehicles, and equipment used in management activities.
