The Northwest Indiana Restoration Ecologist participates in preserve operations including the maintenance, management and development and coordination of conservation programs.  While stationed at the Kankakee Sands Site, this position provides assistance to implement priority conservation management activities throughout Northwest Indiana.  This may include one or more of the following functions:

  • Leads work teams
  • Implements  preserve management plans
  • Maintains preserve areas frequented by the visiting public
  • Removes invasive species and/or monitors & researches species
  • Participates in prescribed fires
  • Maintains tools and equipment
  • Operates heavy machinery
  • Assists other stewards in Northwest Indiana implement priority management
