 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
 The Northeast Louisiana Project Assistant (“Project Assistant”) participates in establishment and maintenance of a biological and water quality monitoring program on the Mollicy Farm Unit of Upper Ouachita National Wildlife Refuge.  This may include one or more of the following functions:
• Establishing project monitoring stations and installing monitoring equipment
• Visiting monitoring stations frequently to service equipment and collect samples
• Delivering samples to Soil and Plant Analysis Lab at ULM
• Collecting data on hydrological features on and near the Mollicy Farms project site
• Collecting landowner information and assisting with outreach efforts to determine interest in land restoration programs.
• Assisting with site visits and preparation of project documents necessary to enroll landowners in restoration programs.
• Maintaining boats and other project equipment. 

The Project Assistant will work in variable weather conditions, at remote locations, on difficult and hazardous terrain, and under physically demanding circumstances.   Assigned tasks will include operating a motor boat on rivers and adjacent floodplain during variety of river stages.  These conditions:
• require considerable physical exertion and/or muscular strain
• present frequent possibility of injury
• require long hours in isolated settings
 BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
 • High school diploma and 1 year’s training in science-related field or equivalent related experience in natural resource protection/land management. 
• Experience recognizing plant and animal species.
• Experience operating various types of equipment including boats.
• Experience performing physical work.
