I.M. Systems Group, Inc. (IMSG) www.imsg.com is seeking to hire an Environmental Scientist to provide support to the NOAA Assessment & Restoration Division (ARD) Southeast Branch, which is based in Saint Petersburg, FL and has additional offices in Atlanta, GA, Dallas, TX and Baton Rouge, LA. The position will be based out of one of the following locations St. Petersburg, Baton Rouge or Silver Spring (Office of Response and Restoration Headquarters). The Southeast Branch includes ocean and coastal areas from North Carolina south to Florida and west to Texas, including the Caribbean. The candidate designs and conducts Natural Resource Damage Assessments (NRDA) for oil spills, waste sites, and vessel groundings in the SE region. In addition, the candidate participates with co-trustees to plan appropriate restoration for natural resource injuries and resolve liability; develops, implements and maintains mechanisms for effective all-hazards preparedness and response actions in the SE region; and supports the delivery of ARD products and services to the public. The candidate fosters cooperation and coordination within and outside of National Ocean Service (NOS) to achieve agency missions, goals, and objectives, including those of the Damage Assessment, Remediation, and Restoration Program (DARRP) and Office of Response and Restoration (OR&R). Responsibilities of the incumbent will include working with interdisciplinary and interagency groups to evaluate ecological injuries after hazardous materials releases – one being the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, which includes developing and conducting studies to determine the appropriate type and scale of restoration to compensate the public for natural resource injuries.
