The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), the nation’s largest animal advocacy organization is seeking a State Director for its State Affairs Division.  The main responsibility is to carry out national and state agenda and priorities within states to which assigned.  Other duties include but are not limited to:  advance state and federal legislative priorities; develop localized strategies to implement campaigns; facilitate expansion of humane network within state; network with animal shelters and federations; facilitate enforcement of animal protection laws; address wildlife issues; advance development opportunities; promote emergency and disaster preparedness; assist region with other projects as necessary.  A Bachelors Degree, 2-5 years of experience in animal protection field, 2-4 years lobbying experience and thorough understanding of legislative rules and process desirable.   In addition, strong organizational skills, strong oral and written communication skills, public speaking skills, ability to work independently, take initiative and maintain good communication with other HSUS staff  and willingness to travel highly desired.  Please submit cover letter and resume to hrjobs@HSUS.org or fax to 301-548-7701.
