Description

It’s our responsibility to independently advise the UK Government on the natural environment. We’re here to make sure people and nature can thrive. From advising farmers on sustainable land management, to gathering and analysing environmental data, and promoting health and wellbeing through the great outdoors, we love what we do. Join us and you’ll be part of an inclusive, motivated and ambitious team, committed to achieving results for our environment, for everyone.

This role will be based within the Thames Solent Area Team, who are responsible for delivering environmental outcomes across Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Berkshire, London, Surrey, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. The team uses a range of mechanisms including land management and planning advice, engagement with stakeholders and direct management of our own land, to achieve the protection and enhancement of biodiversity and landscapes within the patch. Thames Solent is the largest area team in Natural England, in terms of geography and headcount. Covering a large patch of the South East and incorporating two National Parks, the vast and diverse landscape in the Thames Solent area makes it a very exciting place to work.

Thames Solent Area Team is looking for motivated individuals to work with farmers, landowners, land managers and organisations in partnerships, with an aim to safeguard, restore and enhance the natural environment by providing technical advice on habitat and species management.

We are seeking individuals with a range of knowledge, skills and experience covering habitat management, species management, agricultural practices, land management, and negotiation to provide comprehensive technical advice on conservation and nature recovery.

You need to be a team player, able to work with a range of staff in local and national teams and have the ability to operate as an individual. You will lead projects and cultivate effective working relationships that can make a real difference in the natural environment.

We welcome and encourage applications from all communities and, wherever possible, we accommodate requests for both full and part-time hours and other flexible working patterns. Everyone at Natural England is supported to develop their skills and capabilities. You can also look forward to great benefits including a Civil Service pension.

If you’re inspired to protect and enhance England’s wildlife, and want to work for a leading science-led organisation, apply here.
