Job Title:                    Ashford – Conningbrook Lakes

Nature Conservation Community Warden

One-Year Fixed-Term Appointment

(annually renewable for five years, subject to funding)

Part-time Four Days a week

Salary:                         from £14,400 - £19,200 pro rata (under review)

Based at:                      Conningbrook Lakes Country Park, Ashford

The Job:   Conningbrook Lakes Country Park is a newly established Ashford Borough Council site, which will be formally opened in 2015.   You will be expected to work four days a week maintaining and developing the nature conservation interest of the Local Wildlife Site area of the Country Park. This will involve: routine patrolling, maintenance of fencing, access furniture and signage, engaging with people, organising and leading practical conservation tasks and wildlife events, drafting work and management plans, producing reports and representing the Trust at partnership meetings.

 

You will work with the Ashford Area Warden in managing a range of conservation sites around Ashford, such as: Hothfield Heathlands, Ashford Warren & Hoads Wood and Orlestone Forest.  The work will involve practical management work on heathland, woodland and river side habitats, species monitoring and protection, livestock husbandry and general nature reserve management.

 

You will demonstrate an aptitude and enthusiasm for working with people, engaging volunteers, working with partners, knowledge of wildlife and an ability to deliver practical wildlife conservation work.  A relevant environmental qualification is highly desirable, but not essential. A range of practical skills including: volunteer leadership, chainsaw, brush-cutter and first aid are essential.
