BACKGROUND

JOB DESCRIPTION
Under the direct supervision of the nature conservation and food systems manager, the nature conservation and food systems assistant will support IUCN’s work in the Mediterranean. In coordination with the nature conservation and food systems manager, the programme assistant will support the development of the plastic portfolio and the agriculture portfolio of the center.
1) Providing administrative and communication support:
- Maintains smooth operation of administrative function.
- Drafts internal agreements and consultancy contracts.
- Writes media releases and articles and executes the internal and external communication. Generating communication material reflecting the work of the projects.
- Undertake any other task/emerging issues at the request by the line manager.
2) Providing technical support and implementation:
- Drafts technical papers, policy briefs and other technical documents.
- Supports development of capacity buildings
- Conducts data analysis and interdisciplinary research, managing databases
- Supports project activities and follows up project implementation and reviews financial and technical reports.
- Undertake any other task/emerging issues at the request by the line manager.

3) Providing relationship building
- Identifying and building relationship with different stakeholders
- Liaises and facilitates linkages between partners
- Undertake any other task/emerging issues at the request by the line manager.

4) Support the development of new proposals
- Develop working relationships with new potential partners to be involved in the different projects. Ensuring strong information flows between all interested parties concerned in the proposals.
- Support the preparation of competitive proposal according to donors’ requirements, including the administrative sections and technical sections.
REQUIREMENTS
  • A degree (MSc) in Conservation Biology or related field

• A minimum of three-year professional experience

• Knowledge of the IUCN Red List Categories and Criteria

• Proven skills using GIS

• Editing and writing skills in English

• Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team

• Organizational skills

• Communication skills

• Fluency in written and spoken English, French or Spanish is desirable

• The candidate must have a valid work permit within EU
SALARY
The minimum gross annual salary for this position is EUR 34'288. While this is an indicative amount effective as of the current date, changes may occur as per IUCN's compensation practices without prior notice. The same applies to other organisations hosted by IUCN.
