Nature Based Solutions Assistant

Nature-based Solutions come in many shapes and sizes. These can range from the restoration of hedgerows, rivers and peatland to introducing beavers and planting meadows. We have the opportunity to embed a zero carbon, nature-based solution approach within economic recovery decision-making.  This will not only increase our resilience to future economic or environmental shock but will also provide space for innovation and new jobs and skills.  It is vital that we do not revert to business as usual, but genuinely “build back better”.

The core focus of the Nature-Based Solutions Assistant is to support the Head of Projects and Partnerships and existing Nature Based Solutions Managers (NBS Managers) in establishing and developing good working internal processes, enabling the NBS Managers to develop key relationships with landowners/managers and build their portfolio, delivering the Trust’s existing Living Landscape Strategy. 

Although this is a support role, it will require you to be self-motivated and organised with a willingness to learn. It needs a practical thinker, who can suggest workable solutions that enable a busy team to work efficiently and is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. A background in land management/ecology is essential, experience of GIS and other mapping systems plus proficient IT skills are also necessary together with an organised approach and excellent communication abilities.

Our offices are in Pirbright, Leatherhead and Wisley and our hybrid working policy aims to provide a good work/life balance which can incorporate partial home working whilst having an interesting working environment.  The salary offered to successful applicants will form part of a benefits package including: above minimum pension contributions, life assurance of 4 x salary, employee support scheme, 22 days holiday, flexible / hybrid working policy.
