The Natur am Byth partnership is now recruiting for 7 new posts in Wales, start date 4^th December 2023

Mae partneriaeth Natur am Byth nawr yn recriwtio ar gyfer 7 swydd newydd yng Nghymru, i gychwyn ar 4 Rhagfyr 2023

Natur am Byth is Wales’ flagship species recovery programme uniting nine environmental NGOs with NRW in the largest ever partnership of its kind in Wales. Both the people and nature of Wales are facing unprecedented crises; giving a unique opportunity to aid recovery with innovative, transformative solutions. With a little over half of plants and animals remaining and 17% of species in Wales threatened with extinction, Wales is one of the most nature depleted countries in the world.

Natur am Byth is a legally constituted collaboration co-ordinated by Natural Resources Wales (NRW) in partnership with Amphibian & Reptile Conservation; Bat Conservation Trust; Buglife; Bumblebee Conservation Trust; Butterfly Conservation; Plantlife; Marine Conservation Society; RSPB Cymru; and Vincent Wildlife Trust.

Natur am Byth yw prosiect adfer rhywogaethau blaenllaw Cymru sy’n uno naw corff anllywodraethol amgylcheddol ag CNC yn y bartneriaeth fwyaf erioed o’i math yng Nghymru. Swansea Bay: Coast, Commons and Communities Senior Project Officer (Buglife hosted)

Salary: £31,223 (pro rata at 0.6 FTE £18,734)

Hours: Fixed term part-time post, 22.5 hours per week for 3 years 6 months

Location: Hybrid working – home plus Buglife office in Cardiff and NRW office locations in south Wales

The Senior Project Officer will be responsible for co-ordinating and successfully delivering the Swansea Bay: Coast, Commons and Communities project. This will include project and budgetary planning and management, reporting on project progress and delivery, relationship management and external communications. Other key responsibilities include working in partnership with experts, land managers, consultants and contractors and attending Steering Group meetings. The postholder will directly line manage the Buglife hosted project officer and Natur am Byth Trainee, and will provide day to day support for the ARC hosted Swansea Bay Project Officer, as necessary. Swansea Bay: Coast, Commons and Communities Project Officer (Buglife hosted)

The Swansea Bay: Coast, Commons and Communities Project Officer will be responsible for co-ordinating habitat management works for a range of taxa, organising and overseeing species surveys and leading volunteer work-parties. Engagement is integral to the successful delivery of the project and the Project Officer will work closely with local communities to make positive changes for people and wildlife. The post holder will report to the Swansea Bay Senior Project Officer and work closely with the Amphibian and Reptile Conservation hosted Swansea Bay Project Officer and the Swansea Bay Stars of the Night Project Officer. Adder Action + Swansea Bay: Coast, Commons and Communities Project Officer (Amphibian and Reptile Conservation hosted)

The ARC Project Officer will work closely with other project partner staff in south Wales to implement the Swansea Bay: Coast, Commons and Communities project, with specific responsibility for Adder Action across the Natur am Byth partnership. The role will involve recruiting, engaging, training and mentoring volunteers, and delivering habitat management for a range of species in Swansea Bay, as well as advising on adder habitat management across other Natur am Byth projects. Swansea Bay’s Stars of the Night Project Officer (Bat Conservation Trust hosted)

Salary: (incl. Pension and NI): £25,500 - £27,500 (this equates to £15,300 - £16,500 at 0.6 FTE).

Hours: part time post of 22.5 hours/week excluding one hour for lunch at 0.6FTE

Location: hybrid working – home plus NRW office locations in south Wales

This role sits within BCT’s Conservation Projects Team and will lead on the implementation of the Swansea Bay’s Stars of the Night project, a component of the Natur Am Byth! Programme. The project is based in the Swansea Bay area, delivering bat survey and monitoring work with a particular focus on lesser horseshoe bats. You will coordinate and work closely with volunteer surveyors, lead training and deliver engagement events for local communities. The post will work closely with partners delivering the Swansea Bay: Coast, Commons and Communities project, delivering action for a range of species across the Swansea Bay area. Barbastelle Conservation Officer, Pembrokeshire (Vincent Wildlife Trust hosted)

Location: Hybrid working – with a mixture of field work and home-based (Pembrokeshire area) with occasional work at the VWT’s Head Office in Herefordshire

Join the VWT bat team and lead the implementation of the Natur Am Byth! barbastelle bat project in Pembrokeshire. You will deliver widescale conservation through a community science approach by mapping the distribution of barbastelles and locating maternity colonies whilst identifying, promoting, and implementing conservation measures. You will be responsible for coordinating volunteers, collecting and analysing acoustic records, and working with project partners to highlight the barbastelle bat whilst facilitating knowledge transfer to woodland and tree practitioners about the needs of this rare woodland bat. RSPB Cymru is looking for a highly motivated nature conservationist to help secure the long-term future of 17 rare and endangered species occupying wet grassland, lowland heath, softs cliffs, sand dunes and fens in north-west Wales. The target species include curlew, chough, spotted rockrose and large mason bee. Using previous project management experience and strong communication skills, you will galvanise RSPB Cymru staff, project partners, farmers, and local communities to implement a 4-year programme of practical conservation management, ecological monitoring, and people engagement activities. Location: Hybrid working – home plus Welsh Dee Trust Office in Llangollen, Denbighshire

The Scarce Yellow Sally Project Officer will work closely with project partners, contractors, local communities, volunteers and landowners, undertaking a range of actions to conserve and raise awareness of this critically endangered stonefly along the River Dee in the Wrexham County Borough area. Co-ordinating species monitoring and community engagement activities are key to this role.
