We are looking for an outstanding candidate to drive business development and manage sales growth across the company. The flexibility that comes with this role means that the right candidate can work from either our E.Sussex, Bristol or Hampshire office. The successful candidate will report to the managing director with the role offering a great potential for career development within a growing company.

Job Description

  • Lead on national level sales opportunities
  • Act as a resource for branch managers to improve their branch sales
  • Maintain relationships with key clients and deliver sales for the company
  • Lead development and training of staff to drive sales
  • Lead commercial, domestic and sales support workgroups
  • Provide leadership to commercial sales staff in the tendering process
  • Oversee all legal contractual agreements to minimise our liabilities, working with regional branch managers and sales staff
  • Generate new sales leads across our territory, through active marketing including identification of potential new business opportunities, and undertaking client visits
  • Develop company sales strategy
  • Identify and develop new initiatives and business sectors
  • Play a creative role in the development of products, services and literature offered by the company
  • Liaise with Branch Managers to assist with project delivery
  • Assist in the development of Southern Solar across all branches
  • Maintain a business culture that is in line with Southern Solar’s ethos.

EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • At least 5 years experience of sales in a construction, installation or service related business
  • A proven track record in sales to commercial clients
  • Experience of building relationships with clients including Housing Associations, Local Authorities, architects, consultants, Commercial Property Landlords, building developers and contractors
  • Practical understanding of strategic market analysis and planning  
Desirable
  • A proven track record in winning significant competitive tenders and/or bids


SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Essential

  • A commercial approach to business and an ability to quickly gain an in-depth understanding of a company and its operational and sales procedures.
  • A proven demonstration of strong selling skills, previous field sales or direct selling experience
  • People management skills including motivation, performance management, setting and measuring sales targets
  • Excellent IT skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office suite
  • Degree level qualification 2.2 or above
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills

  • Proven ability to show leadership and vision
  • Highly energetic, professional, self-motivated, able to work and think without close supervision and a natural inner drive to succeed
  • Adept at developing rapport and cultivating strong relationships

Essential

  • Able to work a range of hours with occasional overnight stays
  • Enthusiasm for renewable energies
  • Legal right to work in UK
  • Full clean driving licence.
