Description

Field Studies Council (FSC) is an environmental education charity providing informative and enjoyable opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to discover, explore, and understand the environment.

We now have a fantastic opportunity available for a National Infrastructure Manager to join us to oversee the maintenance and  improvement of its large portfolio of property assets allowing us to maintain the safe and sustainable delivery of environmental education.

The role

FSC manages field study sites and centres across the UK in rural and often breath-taking locations so this unique and varied role will allow you to shape the FSC Estate to deliver the FSC Mission plus achieve Carbon Net-Zero targets.

You will be expected to ensure legal compliance and sustainable maintenance, improvement, and development of the charity’s property portfolio and land assets, whilst  building on the draft plans and systems that are already in place. The role will involve managing a team of four people and you will lead on their development and working to establish and embed the central processes and systems that will support the ‘infrastructure team’ to meet its aims.

The role will be technically biased, and the post holder will be required to act as a specialist in support of regional managers by offering technical, fault-finding and legislative advice around buildings. This is an active role and therefore will be required to travel to sites across the UK with some overnight stays. 

About you

We are looking for a Manager with experience in creating works and maintenance specifications, and contract management with trades, consultants and contractors across a variety of specialisms.

Experience improving environmental performance, sustainability and carbon management is essential and you will have significant project management experience from design to release of retention for projects in excess of £1m.

Knowledge of contract law and clauses is required along with knowledge and experience of the Planning, listed building and Warrant processes.

The successful candidate with be a proven leader with solid team management skills

Due to the nature of this role, you will need to hold a full Driving Licence for use in the UK and be prepared to travel Nationally.
