Beginning: 01/08/2008 - 12/2010 Description: Implementation of the National Action Programme to Combat Desertification
-- Systematic promotion of partnerships and voting processes to increase the coherence and sustainability of policies, programmes and projects in the North East
-- Develop the capacity of key actors in the fight against desertification
-- Knowledge management and dissemination of Best Practices
-- Management of forestry resources of the Caatinga, firewood use, grazing, environmental education
Qualifications: -- Responsible for the management of the project and for technical advice to state governments and other stakeholders in the fight against desertification in the north-east;
-- Technical background in one of the following points: Agriculture, rural development, natural resource management, forestry, or even a Humanities;
-- A strong background in organizational consulting and experience with multi-stakeholder processes;
-- At least 10 years relevant professional experience in development projects including project manager activities are also required.
Advisory tasks
• advise the provincial governments and other stakeholders in the fight against desertification in the development and implementation of strategies for the sustainable use of land in the northeast. These include the following:
-- Methods of participatory advice in the country strategies and in the design of intersectoral dialogues;
-- Develop and implement education and training concepts;
-- Processing, documentation and communication of learning;
-- Further development of appropriate approaches to natural resource management with special attention to the gender issue;
-- Consideration of gender issues in the monitoring to monitor desertification and to evaluate the effectiveness of national strategies;
-- After holding and deepening existing cooperation with partner organizations and establish new collaborations binding;
-- Supporting the dialogue and cooperation between civil society organisations and government organizations and promote existing dialogue and consultation mechanisms.
b) Local long-term power
-- At least 10 years relevant professional experience;
-- Proven expertise in the areas of sustainable use of natural resources, desertification control and sustainable agriculture and forestry;
-- Good knowledge of the player spectrum in the North East;
-- Already responsible participation in similar multi-stakeholder processes.
Working Language: Portuguese and German fluent in spoken and written.
