ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

From TNC’s Melbourne, Australia office, leads the membership fundraising for the newly created Australia Global Supporter program and provides strategic direction and vision for raising awareness, engagement and revenue in Australia in support and coordination with the country’s leadership. 

Leads, manages and implements the acquisition, retention and cultivation efforts of all regular and one-off donors across all channels – face-to-face, direct mail, digital, tele-fundraising and DRTV.  Assures overall fundraising goals are met for program including by donor type and channel.

Provides strategic vision/oversight for overall supporter program communications plans, including brand awareness and brand promotions, manages departmental budgets, and assures overall marketing/communications organizational goals are achieved.  Integrates brand marketing strategies in alignment with guidelines set by TNC’s brand marketing group. 

Works with US-based support teams and local vendors to ensure proper and secure transfer, reporting and analysis of Australia supporter data and ensure information is in place to run supporter program smoothly, measure progress and to make informed decisions. 

Manages digital staff member to ensure membership strategies to enhance members’ retention and awareness are implemented across all digital outlets including web, email, social, mobile, and video. 

Responds to questions, comments and concerns from local supporters via email and telephone. Conducts periodic trainings of local vendors about the Conservancy’s identity and conservation projects in Australia. Represents the Conservancy at periodic events, including inter-organizational fundraising meetings.

Reports to the Global Director of Membership located in Washington, DC, USA.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications or related field and minimum 10 years related work experience or an equivalent combination.  .
  • Experience leading and managing a large multi-disciplinary team and setting and implementing strategies and goals for the team.
  • Experience developing direct marketing initiatives, plans and programs.
  • Experience in program management, including broad financial responsibility and measuring results of strategic plans and programs.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree preferred.
  • At least 5 years senior level experience leading a direct marketing/membership fundraising department
  • Experience working for a for-profit company and non-profit organization preferred.
  • Extensive management experience leading multiple direct marketing functions.
  • Direct Marketing experience developing, implementing, and evaluating multifaceted strategic marketing plans and programs. 
  • Familiar with all fundraising channels used including newer digital and social technologies
  • Proven success in building and growing direct marketing programs.
  • Excellent communications, public speaking, presentation, mediation and negotiation skills.
