Description

This vacancy in the Knowledge & Information Management Section needs to be filled by an enthusiastic MS Access developer who is interested in biodiversity information and keen to gain experience in .NET, database and open source technologies.

Your tertiary qualification must be enhanced by at least two years’ experience in database and front-end development using MS Access. You must be familiar with general database design principles, as well as the development of queries, user forms and reports within the MS Access framework. VBA programming skills and knowledge of the Access object model would prove advantageous.

As MS Access Developer, your responsibilities will include:
• maintaining existing applications • migrating data between applications • testing applications • developing new applications • reporting on application progress • transferring skills to users.
In addition to the aforementioned requirements, you must demonstrate a good spoken and written command of English, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Possession of a valid Code B driver’s licence with one year’s practical driving experience is compulsory.

SANBI offers an annual salary of R145 920 plus additional fringe benefits, which include attractive medical aid and pension schemes.
