As a Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) Manager you will be responsible for the day to day running of operations within the plant, ensuring compliance within government legislation regarding waste management and health and safety within the MRF.

The Job

You will be responsible for the efficient running of shift patterns, measuring and controlling input and output, ensuring that processes runs smoothly and maximises through-put. Leading your team of Operatives to maximise the profit of the facility (e.g. instigating training requirements, employee appraisals etc to ensure a crafted, skilled workforce).
You will be responsible for a processing site (materials recycling facility / transfer station). The site will involve manual picking but there will also be some automation in the form of conveyors, bag splitters, baling and Optical sorting equipment. The site deals with Dry Recycling waste which will be sorted into paper, plastics, metals and glass ( - optional - and the remainder converted to an RDF (Refuse Derived Fuel))
You will ensure the day-to-day monitoring of plant performance to maximise productivity. Liaising with on-site engineers to ensure the repair and maintenance of the mobile and static plant.
You will be responsible for ensuring highest quality product which will in turn mean maximum value can be attained on the sale of processed recovered waste streams.
You should be commercially aware and entrepreneurially minded.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE
Ideally from a MRF Site Manager role OR from a similar role in production and manufacturing where you look after a production shift made up of a team of people and some automated equipment to ensure efficient processes.
Begin self-motivated, self-confident, enthusiastic and resilient. With a flexible approach to working and the ability to plan and prioritise your and your team’s workload.
Good man management experience and the ability to provide a health and safety focussed working environment are essential. Showing team leadership as well as teamwork and communication skills within the whole business
You should be PC Literate using MS Office and workplace software systems. With a high level of numeracy and literacy and good oral and written communication skills.

INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE

A strong commercial understanding of the industry.
WAMITAB COTC Level 4/ H&S Training would be a big advantage.
PREVIOUS SECTOR EXPERIENCE: Processing of Bulky Plastics, Production, Metals, Packaging, Paper, Wood, Glass, Manufacturing, Production, MRF, Waste Management including hazardous, clinical, healthcare, household, confidential, construction & demolition, Shredding.
A good understanding of Logistical operations is preferred.
