Mobilisation Campaigner with Crisis Response Lab and Mobilisation Lab

Greenpeace International is looking for an outstanding digital strategist and mobilisation expert to help lead global engagement efforts for our new Crisis Response team.

Purpose of the job

* To lead, develop and implement protocols, strategies and creative concepts for engaging and mobilising individuals in Crisis Response campaigns.
* To work with Greenpeace’s 24 national and regional offices to assist in implementation of new “rapid response” campaign processes as well as develop innovative communication responses at a national level as crises occur.
Key responsibilities
• Lead and coordinate the formulation of innovative, creative, pro-active and reactive campaign mobilisation strategies to improve Greenpeace’s ability to effectively respond to crises around the world.
• Work with Greenpeace International and the Mobilisation Lab to understand our current communications tools and protocols for crisis response.
• Identify skills, tools and protocols that are needed by the Greenpeace mobilization community when responding to a crisis situation and work with both Mobilisation Lab and Crisis Response Lab teams to deliver solutions and build capacity (e.g. trainings, tools, skill sharing)
• Assist in developing the mobilisation strand of Greenpeace’s crisis scenario training, including standard protocol and templates for mobilization decision making and outputs during crisis response
• Participate in regular crisis team meetings and contribute to the development of overall strategy
• Coordinate the mobilisation strategy and outputs of any international crisis response
• Liaise with national and regional staff working on mobilisation in crisis responses
• Coordinate and oversee experimental mobilization strategies and pilot new ways of working during a crisis
• Share the learning from these experiments throughout the organization in partnership with the Mobilisation Lab
• Enable the crisis response team to build relationships with and support mobilization experts in NROs through consistent communication, diplomacy and generation of ideas
• Manage a diverse team of professionals, internal as well as external partners
• Promote innovation, risk-taking, and the use of cutting-edge technology to build Greenpeace’s ability to effectively engage and mobilise individuals in new ways

Skills and qualifications

• Bachelor’s/Master’s degree or equivalent
• At least 5 years professional experience in fields of digital campaigning, mobilisation, and/or citizen engagement – at both strategic and tactical levels
• Solid experience in data analysis and testing of digital strategies
• Good working knowledge of climate & energy issues
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English. Fluency in a second language is a plus.
• Strong interpersonal skills with experience in cross-cultural settings and global experiences
• Willingness to accommodate a range of time zones and unpredictable scheduling needs – from virtual meetings outside of standard business hours to global travel
• Demonstrated experience working proactively and under pressure
• Ability to work effectively as part of a virtual team.
• Articulate, creative, and passionate
• Commitment to non-violence as a means of affecting change
