The Marine Management Organisation (MMO) met on 20 May 2011 with the local community of the Rame Head and Whitsand Bay area to discuss the recommendations of the Rame Head review findings. The meeting, at Millbrook Village Hall, was chaired by Sheryll Murray MP, and was well attended by members of the public and local representatives.

In March 2011, the MMO published the findings of an independent review commissioned by Richard Benyon, Minister for Natural Environment and Fisheries, regarding the Rame Head disposal site.

The review found that disposal activities at the site are compliant with the law and within environmental limits but recognised that there remain local concerns. The MMO held the meeting with the local community to work together in finding solutions to address any remaining concerns.

MMO Interim Chair, Dr Derek Langslow said “We were delighted to facilitate the meeting which was really well attended and pleased with the outcome, which was agreement to form a group to consider solutions locally. Many of the people and organisations present volunteered to join the group which the MMO will support to help establish itself.”
