NEW Minerals and Waste Support Officer (Fixed Term Contracts x 2)
There are 2 posts: Maternity Cover - Preferably Job share, however full time candidates will also be considered (37 hours per week) Fixed Term 2 year contract – Full time, job sharers will also be considered (37 hours per week) The South Downs National Park Authority (SDNPA) is an exciting, new organisation that aims to look after the National Park and help people to learn about and enjoy the area. We also have an important role in supporting the local communities that live and work here. We became fully operational in April 2011 and are looking for talented individuals to take this important work forward. We are committed to creating a modern, flexible organisation that works through partnership and supports local action. The SDNPA became the statutory planning Authority for the National Park on 1 April 2011. We are now looking to recruit two individuals for the posts of Minerals and Waste Support Officer. The successful candidate will support case work on significant minerals and waste planning applications and enforcement matters and undertake planning policy work, including working on emerging Development Plan Documents for minerals and waste. Working under the Minerals and Waste Lead, the post holder will undertake a wide variety of development management and policy work, including processing and overseeing mineral and waste planning applications, mineral and waste enforcement and other related activities. To be considered for this role you will need to have a minimum of 3 years experience in town planning work, preferably including 1 to 2 years in minerals and waste planning, and eligibility for membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute. You will have a degree or post graduate qualification in planning or a related subject. Up to date knowledge of current planning practice, legislation and procedures is essential. Up to date knowledge of minerals and waste planning is desirable. Strong analytical skills and the ability to bring a clear and logical approach to problems and issues are also a requirement. You will have the ability to communicate effectively with all parties involved in the Park.
