Description

Sequence is seeking an experienced Microbial Scientist to work within an advanced research and development laboratory for bio-pesticides.

The ideal individual would have 5+ years of experience working within the laboratory environment on the development of microbial pesticides. This would include working as part of a multidisciplinary team of scientists designing and executing fermentation experiments (flask, pilot and production bioreactors). Must have hands on experience in fungal fermentation, process optimization and strain development (statistical, rational).

Candidates should have a strong scientific understanding of conducting fermentation experiments at the flask, 10L, 20L, 200L scales and pilot stages to gain in-depth understanding on the impact of fermentation on production stability of active ingredients, as well as, developing biosynthetic pathways for media design, process optimization and industrial strain improvement.

Additional responsibilities will include data collection, writing standard operating procedures, technical bulletins, making internal presentations on status of process developments, and manufacturing site process transfers as needed.

Requires a Bachelors Degree in Biology, Chemistry or related discipline. MS in bacterial / fungal fermentation. PH.D in microbiology, chemical engineering or related sciences.

Candidates must have hands-on experience with fermentation concepts, statistical design, analytical, biological and wet chemistry laboratory equipment. Requires excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
