The Position The Membership Assistant is responsible for:
- Managing and coordinating a broad variety of time and detail sensitive work related to serving UCS members.
- Processing and handling of individual donations to UCS including: answering the membership phone line, responding to member inquiries via phone, mail, and email;
- Crafting, producing and mailing correspondence;
- Gift processing and data entry;
- Handling all gift memberships, honor/memorials and matching gifts.
- All administrative management of the Partners for the Earth monthly giving program (over 5000 members), and the Workplace Giving program.
- Back up to the Database Assistant for manual gift entry from the lockbox and other data entry tasks.
- General administrative support for the membership department as needed.
Qualifications and experience Strong written and oral communication skills. Strong customer service skills and an interest in interacting with members and donors on the phone. Database proficient. Knowledge of Raisers Edge a plus. Position requires ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously and strong organizational skills. An ability to communicate effectively and work flexibly in a team environment is important. Some basic bookkeeping knowledge and an ability to learn and retain complex data entry and other systems are needed. Familiarity with and interest in development and fund-raising techniques and principles is strongly preferred. Bachelor’s degree preferred. At UCS, comparable training and/or experience can be substituted for degrees when appropriate.
Compensation, Hours and Location: This is a full time position based in UCS’s Cambridge, MA office. The salary is in the low $30s for candidates who meet all position requirements. UCS offers excellent benefits and is an equal opportunity employer continually seeking to diversify its staff.
