The role

We’re looking for a MEICA (Mechanical Electrical Instrumentation Control and Automation) Officer 1 to assist the MEICA Team to deliver the asset maintenance programme and contribute to the delivery of the Carbon Saving plan in the Yorkshire North East region.

The team

The MEICA team provides technical assistance in all elements of the Agency’s business in the MEICA discipline and delivers MEICA planned and emergency maintenance works and projects across the region on a wide range of assets. 

Experience/skills required 

We’re seeking a talented MEICA Officer with a strong mechanical bias educated to ONC or higher in a mechanical discipline.

The MEICA Officers role is to co-ordinate, direct, approve and participate in the delivery of MEICA asset maintenance works and to make a significant contribution to our carbon savings plan using own, internal and external resources to meet the technical and safety standards of the Agency.

You'll be required to identify areas where efficiency’s can be made to energy saving across the MEICA Assets within the Region.

You must have the ability to prioritise the maintenance and small project work and control and co-ordination of programmes of work (project or maintenance) including 1st line supervision of work teams. You must be able to demonstrate the ability to ensure that all activities are monitored so that they are completed to time cost and quality targets.

You'll also need to find innovative ways of delivering the work programme and produce written reports recommending ways in which work should be carried out to achieve the maximum benefit.

You must also ensure that the MEICA service provider carries out works in a way that complies to health and safety requirements and environmental standards and that correct risk reduction methods are used. 

Other key requirements for this job include excellent communication skills, proficiency in word, excel and database management along with a passion for analysis and problem-solving. Knowledge of asset management processes and systems would be advantageous as would CAD skills.

You'll be expected to take part in MEICA incident response for the region that may involve out of normal office hours and shift working.

Additional useful information 

The role will be based in one of Yorkshire Area offices but will require some travel to our operational sites and facilities across the Yorkshire North East region.

As a result you'll require a full UK driving license. An appropriate package is available for a suitably qualified and experienced candidate.
