Description

The Media Officer is responsible for the communication between IPF and the media. You will ensure IPF’s mission and actions are given the right visibility, in Belgium and internationally, through direct interface with traditional media (press, radio, TV, web…) and IPF communications events, as well as through social networks.

You will be in charge of contacts with the media and will survey what is published regarding the IPF and its main fields of action.

You will work under the responsibility of the Communication Manager and will be part of the communication unit.

Specific Tasks

  • Be the contact person between the IPF and the media;
  • Establish privileged relationship with a core group of key journalists;
  • Further develop and maintain the international media database;
  • Prepare press packs and press releases, organising press conferences;
  • Writing, reviewing and publishing texts for the IPF websites, in several languages (www.polarfoundation.org / www.sciencepoles.org / www.educapoles.org / www.antarcticstation.org) or from IPF’s partners;
  • Writing texts for brochures and exhibition materials;
  • Liaising with the web team, the editorial team and other departments in IPF to deliver texts contributing to enhance awareness about IPF.

List of competencies

  • Good knowledge from practice of the media world
  • Excellent writing and editing skills
  • Good organizational skills, able to multitask
  • Be fluent in French and English or Dutch and English
  • University degree in communication, journalism, …
  • Existing contacts with Belgian and international journalists is an asset.
