Mechanical Engineer - Christchurch

Meridian is New Zealand's largest renewable electricity generator with sustainability at the core of our business.  This is a unique opportunity to work with our iconic South Island assets as part of the Strategic Engineering team.  Combine your Hydro Generation industry experience, proven strategic capability and engineering background in this important and rewarding role.

Reporting to the Engineering Strategy Manager, you will provide mechanical engineering advice and support to both internal and external parties, in the development and realisation of new initiatives and strategic developments.  You will also provide evaluation, risk analysis and identification of potential problem areas.

This pivotal role provides direction to the Asset Management Team and will ensure that Meridian's operational risks are well managed, that asset capability meets Meridian's business needs, our operational costs are optimised and asset value is not eroded.

As well as your Engineering qualification to degree level and significant industry experience, you will have a good understanding of commercial and financial analysis.
