Mechanical Design Engineer - Operations Group

They provide inspection and assessment expertise, and develop cost-effective management and maintenance strategies to prolong the life of valuable assets.

Education/Experience and Qualification Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology.  0-2 years experience in mechanical design.

The Operations Group at Pure Technologies is responsible for implementing our technologies at client's sites.  Depending on the product this could include the permanent installation of equipment used for monitoring infrastructure or deploying equipment used for inspections.  The successful candidate will be a Mechanical Design Engineer or Mechanical Engineering Technician in the Operations Group responsible for performing various mechanical design tasks to support the Operations Group.  Responsibilities will focus on layout, design, 3D modeling and documentation for the various products of Pure Technologies.

Applicant must be proficient in 3D CAD modeling and drawing. Competency in Inventor preferred.  However, applicants proficient in Solidworks or Pro Engineer will also be considered.  Some field experience and/or knowledge in water pipeline construction and applications is an asset.  Applicant must have a strong mechanical aptitude, possess creativity, be detail oriented and analytical.  Other essential duties include:

  • Able to perform tasks unsupervised, but also able to work effectively within the team dynamic
  • Positive attitude with keen interest in learning
  • Apply theory and principles of mechanical design to modify, test and develop mechanical components for products
  • Review Client's drawings and figures to apply existing technologies and adapt as required to meet to client's specific needs
  • Draft detail drawings for parts fabrications by machine shops
  • Discuss changes in design, method of manufacture and assembly, and drafting techniques and procedures with staff and coordinate corrections
  • Set up and conduct tests of complete units and components under operational conditions to investigate proposals for improving equipment performance 
  • Travel as required throughout North America for site surveys, monitoring field installations and performing quality inspections.
