Description

BirdLife International is the world’s largest nature conservation partnership. Through our unique local-to-global approach, we deliver high impact and long-term conservation for the benefit of nature and people.

We are looking for someone to develop and manage, in line with the ME Regional Programme, the implementation of the Middle East conservation components related to IBAs and Species programmes. This will include support to ongoing projects of the EU funded project “Urgent Actions to Strengthen the Balkan Population of the Egyptian Vulture and Secure Its Flyway“, LIFE16 NAT/BG/000874, the UNDP/GEF Migratory Soaring Birds and MAVA Safe flyways IKB and Energy and any new/planned projects and emerging needs as per director discretion.

The ME Species and IBAs Officer primary responsibilities will be to:

Lead, support and assist in the implementation of the regional conservation component of the Regional Plan and the above mentioned project.

Provide support, when needed, to the portfolio of ME projects and ensure synergies of these projects.

The ideal candidate will have

  • University degree in environmental conservation or related field
  • Interest in and understanding of conservation issues and bird persecution and hunting impact within the Middle East region
  • Track record of relevant work experience, including experience of working in the Middle East
