Postdoctoral Researcher
The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) located at the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in Golden, Colorado is the nation’s primary laboratory for research, development and deployment of renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies. NREL's National Center for Photovoltaics, 
Process Technology and Advanced Concepts group, is seeking a postdoctoral candidate to perform creative scientific research on the development and characterization of organic solar cells. This will involve the development of new contact materials, processing strategies for new active layer materials, and device architectures. The assignment is for one year with possible renewal for up to three years.
The researcher will contribute to the development and characterization of new device architectures and contact materials for organic photovoltaic (OPV) devices. The candidate will develop processing strategies utilizing new and existing active layer materials to effectively evaluate their performance in organic solar cells. He/she will also assist in the development and evaluation of new electron or hole contact layer materials as well as alternative electrode materials in OPV devices. These studies will require both the development of novel experimental techniques as well as the use of existing optical, structural, and electrical characterization tools. 

Extensive interactions with industrial collaborators will be required, and the applicant must be amenable to working in a large and diverse research team. The candidate will need a demonstrated ability to produce high-quality scientific work with strong scientific writing and presentation skills so as to present at national and international conferences and publish the work in peer-reviewed journals. As such, excellent interpersonal and communication skills are a necessity. The ideal candidate must demonstrate a willingness and enthusiasm for learning new subjects, excellent collaborative skills, creativity, and an interest toward commercialization.
Must be a recent PhD graduate within the last three years.
Ph.D. in materials science, physics, chemistry, or other relevant discipline. Relevant education and experience consistent with duties.
Preference will be given to candidates with experience in organic solar cell fabrication, characterization, and OPV materials development.
