The Matador Ranch Stewardship Ecologist (Ecologist) in Montana is primarily responsible for assisting in land management and collection of data on the 60,000-acre Matador Ranch.  This position requires frequent interaction with landowners, partners, and staff, and the Ecologist must be able to maintain positive relationships in a rural setting.  This position works with the Glaciated Plains Land Steward and contractors to collect and manage data for grassland birds, vegetative data associated with grassland birds, livestock utilization of herbage, and invasive plant species.  Additionally, at least half of the time will be spent completing ranch management projects, including fence repair and removal, irrigation and maintenance of irrigation systems, invasive species management, and maintenance of ranching-associated facilities and equipment.  This position will also collect data related to land management.  Housing is provided and is a requirement of the position.
