 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
 The Marketing Specialist implements tactics as outlined in the Latin America Region’s approved marketing plan.
Through the implementation of marketing plans, messages and materials, s/he will support the Nature Conservancy’s organization-wide marketing objectives:
• Become the most respected conservation organization among key audiences
• Influence local conservation activities
• Increase major gifts fundraising to support conservation goals

The Marketing Specialist ensures consistent implementation of the Conservancy’s visual identity standards, branding and key messages.  S/he is responsible for writing and editing a variety of communication materials that educate the public; provide information to internal and external audiences, including potential donors; increases visibility of The Nature Conservancy and assists the Conservancy with meeting its conservation goals.  Products that the Marketing Specialist develops may include, but are not limited to:  web-site articles/stories, executive-level speeches and op-ed pieces, press releases, fact sheets, report summaries and presentations. S/he also coordinates marketing activities with other marketing, media and communications staff within Latin America and the Conservancy’s Worldwide Office.

The Marketing Specialist’s work will require interaction with a wide array of people within the Latin America Region, the Marketing Division, and across other parts of the organization: science staff, executive staff, peers, donors, contractors, etc.  The Marketing Specialist reports to a Marketing Manager, does not supervise staff, and will sometimes manage outside writers and related vendors in order to complete marketing projects.
The Marketing Specialist will also participate in a marketing network in order to share and re-apply best practices and engage with peers across the organization.  This position is part of LAR’s Conservation Leadership & Philanthropy team and as such will be expected to participate in team meetings, trainings and calls.
 BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
 • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, marketing, advertising, communications, public relations, or related field.
• Three to five years related experience implementing marketing programs.
• Fluency in English and Spanish writing, editing and verbal communication skills.
• Experience writing for a variety of print and electronic vehicles, including press materials, brochures, presentations, fact sheets and the Internet.
 ADDITIONAL JOB INFORMATION
 REQUIREMENTS:-KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, marketing, advertising, communications, public relations, or related field.
• Three to five years related experience implementing marketing programs.
• Experience working with an advertising/public relations agency or complex organization preferred.
• Superb English and Spanish writing, editing and verbal communication skills.
• Strong computer skills and experience in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Internet navigation.
• Ability to maintain accurate time and detail reporting for deliverables outlined in marketing plans.
• Strong time management skills and ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.
• Organizational and detail-oriented and proofreading/editing skills, with ability to manipulate, analyze and interpret data.
• Ability to work in a team-based environment with internal and external partners.
• Experience writing for a variety of print and electronic vehicles, including press materials, brochures, presentations, fact sheets and the Internet.
• Ability & willingness to travel domestically or internationally as needed.
• Personal passion for preserving and protecting the natural world with a belief in the mission, principles, and values of The Nature Conservancy’s global approach to conservation.

• Demonstrated experience using effective interpersonal skills, listening, diplomacy and tact to build strong professional relationships and motivate staff and volunteers.
• Well-developed written and oral communication, negotiating and organizational skills.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL EFFORT:
• Work requires only minor physical exertion and/or physical strain.  Work environment involves only infrequent exposure to disagreeable elements.
