Marketing Officer - Carbon Credits

The RSPB together with the Government of Sierra Leone (GoSL), the Conservation Society of Sierra Leone (CSSL) and the Paramount Chief (PC) representative of the Greater Gola Chiefdoms and Communities are developing a Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Degradation (REDD) project for the Gola Rainforest National Park (GRNP) in Sierra Leone. The aim of the project is to secure financing from the sale of carbon credits (created from reducing deforestation and associated GHG emissions in the National Park), on the voluntary carbon market. The funds will be used to improve Park management and encourage the sustainable management of natural resources in the Greater Gola area in order to protect the areas unique biodiversity and provide benefits to local communities. 

RSPB are now looking to employ a dynamic marketing and sales lead on a 4 month contract to plan and implement a marketing strategy to sell the carbon credits arising from the GRNP project. 
The post holder will develop a marketing strategy, analyse and report on the potential options for selling the credits, develop suitable marketing material and implement the agreed strategy as well as assist in developing other marketing work as required. The post requires a pro-active individual with a strong sales and marketing background, an understanding of corporate social responsibility and a keen interest in environmental issues. 

Salary

£22,000 to £26,000 per annum
