FSC works by bringing people together to promote responsible forest management and to find solutions to the problems created by bad forestry practices. FSC does so by providing standard setting, trademark assurance, accreditation services and business value for companies and organizations interested in responsible forestry.

Products carrying the FSC label are independently certified to assure consumers that they come from forests that are managed to meet the social, economic and ecological needs of present and future generations.

 

Mission statement/  business objectives of the function:

 

The Marketing Manager drives the consumer and B2B marketing efforts as well as marketing engagement with FSC members and the FSC Network and key partners globally. The Marketing Manager is the key partner in the marketing of FSC to consumers, corporations, and other sectors.

 

Main roles and responsibilities:

 

  • Overseeing a broad range of marketing, advertising and promotional activities.
  • Development of annual marketing plan in conjunction with Business Development Director, which details activities to follow during the fiscal year and which will focus on meeting organizational objectives. 
  • Managing and coordinating any activities relating to the development and implementation of FSC’s brand positioning and brand.
  • Managing the entire marketing process from strategic planning to tactical activities.
  • Nurturing and researching potential partner relationships for FSC Global Development with other consumer facing brands and media properties.
  • Maintaining professional internal and external relationships that meet organizational core values.
  • Identifying, developing, maintaining, and disseminating tools to promote professional marketing for use in and by FSC’s Network Partners globally.
  • Studying competitors' products and services.
  • Building strong understanding of retail customer and market dynamics and requirements, including monitoring and analysing market trends exploring ways of improving existing FSC services, and increasing market share.
  • Reviewing monthly expenditure reports to ensure marketing budget.
  • Strategic marketing plan development:
    • Building integrated strategic marketing plans that meet organizational objectives.
    • Leading strategic initiatives that result in co-branded communications with key consumer brands.
    • Optimizing contractual marketing spend.
  • Marketing Communications Program Execution:
    • Coordinating the development of all marketing communications including in-store collateral, direct mail, interactive marketing, sponsorships, public relations and advertising.
    • Participating in creative development at all stages and ensuring that marketing meets FSC brand guidelines.
    • Liaising with key accounts to obtain creative approvals on a timely basis.
  • Marketing Effectiveness Analysis:
    • Monitoring and analysing campaign and other marketing metrics to ensure activities are meeting goals.
    • Provide detailed marketing effectiveness review on a quarterly basis.
  • Grassroots marketing: Leading "grass roots" efforts to provide support for events, seminars, conferences, promotions and/or sponsorships and working closely with FSC Network Partners to identify and support these opportunities.

Execution of discretionary power:

The position does not include any signing power.

 

 

Functional attribution to organizational unit:

 

The Marketing Manager reports to the Business Development Director.

Qualification, experience and skills:

 

The successful candidate demonstrates the following key competencies and qualities:

  • Education and Training:  Bachelor's degree required, MBA in marketing preferred
  • Working experience and expertise:
    • Five to seven years of experience in marketing, ideally with some client facing experience.
    • Proven success in developing marketing plans, strategies, budgets and forecasts that support business needs and objectives.
    • Excellent knowledge of marketing discipline including direct response, retail and in store promotions, web and social media.
    • Proven success in working with varied partners and effectively communicate FSC’s value proposition.
  • Proven success in managing a large number of projects and relationships and flex priorities accordingly.
  • Working Style: Self-starter; must be capable of working independently and have a bias for action.
  • Languages:
    • Fluency in English (spoken and written) and Spanish (spoken and written),
    • French is a plus.
  • Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Computer skills: Good computer skills, including the use of standard software packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access) and database management platforms. Experience with Content Management Systems and websites is a plus.
  • Others:

Terms and conditions:

  • Location: Bonn, Germany.
  • Level: Mid level
  • Full Time: 40 working hours per week.
  • Temporary contract: 2 years – extension possible.
  • Starting date: As soon as possible.
  • Travel: Regular travel is required.
