Description

We are the only wildlife rescue and rehabilitation sanctuary in Malawi, promoting wildlife conservation both internationally and within the local communities.

We also have an extensive community outreach and education programme, and the centre is open to the public 365 days a year, welcoming hundreds of families and school children every week. The project is still in the development stages which means that you can have a very real influence on the direction we take, and there is a great team in place - volunteers often extend their stay because they enjoy it so much and can see their value.

We are looking for a marketing intern to help drive visitation to the Centre and help us to become financially self sustainable.

The successful applicant will have bags of enthusiasm, and will be outgoing, flexible and hard working; a real people person with a passion for the project who can use their initiative, act commercially and work autonomously managing their own projects. We require someone with a marketing qualification and a minimum of one year industry experience. This will be a perfect placement for someone who is looking for marketing experience with a well respected award winning charity and also wants to make a real difference to a groundbreaking project.

We are looking for a marketing assistant to join the team on an internship basis. Work is extremely varied and you will have the chance to develop your marketing and commercial skills and take responsibility for your own projects early on. Working with the marketing manager, your responsibilities will include:

- PR: Writing articles for local and international publications and identifying new areas for publicity.

- Events management: The centre is fully equipped, with bar, restaurant and a brand new amphitheatre to put on events. This could range from cultural dances, weddings, film nights, theatre productions etc.

- Helping with management of volunteer community and wildlife projects

- Project management

- Managing the adoptions and Friends membership programme

- Outreach: developing relationships with schools and businesses

The placement will initially be for 3 months with the option of extending to 6 months. Working hours are 9 to 5, 6 days a week with a long weekend off every month to give you the chance to explore Malawi.

You will need to cover your flight and your own food, but we can provide accommodation, training, in-house support and work related transport. We estimate that £40 a week will cover your expenses, depending on your lifestyle.

If you think you have what it takes to make a real difference then please contact Jerrine on lilongwewildlife@gmail.com
