Marketing Coordinator
Job overview
We are looking for someone with a flair for organising and the ability to develop a deep understanding of our customers to coordinate marketing across on and offline channels. In any given week our adverts run in magazines and partner websites, our emails reach thousands of customers, and our printed fliers and newsletters land on hundreds of doormats. The Marketing Coordinator plays a key role in overseeing this activity. Reporting to the Managing Director, the role works closely with two other marketing colleagues.
Working on projects in the academic, ecology and wildlife sector, the Marketing Coordinator is able to plan and implement activity to appropriate customer groups, they will keep up-to-date with the latest marketing tools and methods, and develop strategies for NHBS to market to diverse customer segments.

- Deliver increased levels of traffic and conversion through informative and enjoyable content, communication and activity for customers.
- Track and manage a huge list of exciting books and products coming out in the following months.
- Develop marketing mini-campaigns based around what’s new and exciting, seasonal trends, key new books, product launches.
- Be able to plan and organise a large number of small marketing activities - we typically send 4-5 different types of email per week.
- Keep track of conferences and events of interest to NHBS.
- Produce HTML emails and webpages from templates.
- Create eye-catching fliers and mini-catalogues from templates.
- Plan and organise our attendance at conferences and events.
- Coordinate marketing activity with colleagues at NHBS.
- Communicate with people at all levels from partner organisations.
- Test and measure results to inform decision-making.

Here’s who we’re looking for
You may be a biologist by training, a wildlife enthusiast, a marketing/business graduate, or none of the above: a passion for ideas and for what NHBS does is more important than specific knowledge or qualifications.
Essential requirements
- Able to develop a deep understanding of what we do.
- Excellent copywriting and proofreading skills, and a keen eye for design detail.
- An ability to work to deadlines - to plan short and long-term tasks effectively.
- A good sense of humour and a proactive, positive attitude.
- An organised and reliable approach to work.
- Comfortable with new tools and software - you constantly develop your skillset.
- Ability to work with others to get things done.
- Accountability for outcomes.
- Interest in wildlife and science.
- A working knowledge of design packages such as Photoshop and InDesign, or open source equivalents.
- Experience with HTML and email marketing software e.g. Mailchimp/Constant Contact.
- Created a monthly wildlife newsletter with a mix of new books and equipment in.
- Calculated a series of customer retention statistics to inform a new marketing project.
- Organised a box of catalogues to be sent to a conference in Spain.
- Contacted a customer to get feedback on an order.
- Presented a schedule of upcoming marketing activity to colleagues.
- Reviewed and updated a list of forthcoming titles, developing ideas for putting them together into subject-based promotions.
- Written a short, highly targeted email about a new botanical book series.
- Worked with colleagues to produce a case-study article on a new bat detector.

Terms and conditions
Full-time (37.5 hrs per week); salary: £17-22,000 pa; based in Totnes, Devon.
